Booking T&Cs

Everything to know before you book: fees, refunds, exchanges and what to expect on the day.

Last updated 27 November 2024. Our terms and policies may change at any time; changes apply from the moment they're posted to this page.

Booking & Ticket Information

We recommend booking early to secure your tickets. Both our Barn Theatre and Sturrock Studio have unreserved seating, except for accessible seating, which can be secured at the time of booking. Reserving an accessible seat automatically reserves a companion seat too, so you can sit with a member of your party. Call our Box Office if you have any questions, or if your access requirements change.

It's your responsibility to check your order and tickets are correct, and to contact us immediately if there's a mistake. We won't be responsible for issues caused by an error in the booking, though we'll always let you know as soon as reasonably possible about any issue caused by us. A valid ticket must be produced to get into an event. Removing, altering or defacing any part of your ticket may invalidate it. An order is confirmed once you've received online confirmation and a confirmation email.

Booking Fees

We charge 4% + VAT on each booking, covering the cost of our card payment provider (Stripe) and our ticketing system (TicketSource). Booking fees are non-refundable, and an additional fee may apply if you exchange your tickets for another show.

Refunds & Exchanges

All tickets are non-refundable unless the performance is cancelled. If you're unable to attend, let us know ahead of the start time and we may be able to exchange your tickets for an alternative performance, for an additional booking fee.

If an event is cancelled or postponed, we'll do our best to let you know. Please keep your contact details up to date. If an event is rescheduled, your tickets transfer automatically to the new date; if you can't make it, get in touch. Sterts and the visiting company aren't liable for any personal travel, accommodation or hospitality arrangements affected by a change of date. Where a refund is agreed for a rescheduled event, we'll return the value of your order minus all or part of the booking fees already incurred.

If we identify suspicious activity on an account, we may freeze it while we make contact. If we can't reach the account holder within 5 working days, we reserve the right to cancel any associated tickets without notice or refund.

Third-Party Ticket Sales

Tickets may not be sold for commercial gain. Accounts are for personal use only, and where we believe tickets have been purchased for resale we may cancel them without notice or refund at our discretion. We take no responsibility for tickets or services purchased via an agency or third party, including anyone purchasing on behalf of a group.

Age Restrictions

Some performances have age restrictions. Check the event page or ask our Box Office before buying. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Concessions

Concession tickets are available for some performances; only one concession applies per ticket, and proof of eligibility may be requested at purchase or on the day. Family rate tickets and group discounts are available for some performances, as detailed on the listing.

Sterts Reserves the Right To

  • Cancel performances
  • Alter the cast without notice: we can't guarantee the appearance of any particular artist, and casts are subject to change
  • Refuse ticket holder entry
  • Challenge any suspicious account activity to protect our audiences from fraud

Customer Courtesy

Theatre is a shared experience. Please show consideration to those on stage and around you. Phones and other devices should be switched off during performances, and photography and filming are strictly prohibited while a show is in progress. We occasionally film or photograph our audience for future promotional activity; if you'd rather not be filmed, let a member of staff know.

As an environmental centre, Sterts is a smoking-free site. Vaping is prohibited inside and within 5 metres of all buildings. Sterts and visiting companies aren't responsible for personal property brought onto the premises, and security searches may be carried out at certain events.

You're welcome to bring your own food onto site and into the auditorium, but alcohol may not be brought in. Bar facilities are available at every performance and event. Please arrive in plenty of time to be seated before the performance starts, as shows begin promptly at the time on your ticket.

Our Barn Theatre retains its original bench amphitheatre seating. It's wind and rain proof but not heated, so wrap up warm, especially in the winter months, and we'd recommend bringing a cushion to sit on.
